Job summary

The Children's Center of Brookline seeks an experienced educator with EEC certification to join our Atelierista team (Art and Sensory Teacher). This full-time role (32-40 hours) includes a dedicated classroom and studio space, and daily care of the children within a teaching team.

Ideal candidate brings at least two years of preschool teaching, one year of open-ended art experience, and a passion for Reggio-inspired pedagogy, co-regulation, and outdoors-based learning.

Qualifications

  • EEC certification required; Lead Teacher certification preferred.
  • Minimum two years of classroom teaching with children under 5.
  • At least one year of experience teaching and/or creating open-ended art.
  • Solid understanding of child development.
  • Commitment to co-regulation in the classroom.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver curriculum and plan learning experiences with a teaching team.
  • Curate play spaces and present materials in meaningful ways.
  • Facilitate circle, songs, storytimes and community meetings.
  • Model best practices in early childhood education to student teachers and interns.
  • Share day-to-day tasks including bathrooming, diapering, and classroom maintenance.
  • Prepare documentation and conduct two annual parent–teacher conferences.

Job description

The Children's Center of Brookline is seeking an experienced educator with EEC certification to join our team as our Atelierista (Art and Sensory Teacher).

This position works alongside a creative and experienced team of educators which includes, three full-time team-teachers as well as 1-2 student teachers/interns. This is a full time (32-40 hours a week, this can be a 4 or 5 day a week) position, and includes a designated classroom and studio space, as well as daily care of the children within a teaching team.

Ideal candidate
  • Be willing to work at least 6 hours per day between the hours 8am and 5pm.
  • Be at least EEC teacher certified, Lead Teacher certified preferred.
  • Have at least two years of classroom teaching experience with children under 5.
  • Have at least one year of experience teaching and/or creating open-ended art.
  • Have a solid foundational understanding of Child Development.
  • Be committed to classroom management that prioritizes co-regulation.
  • Be passionate about classroom design, Reggio-inspired pedagogies.
  • Be eager to curate a processed based, visually engaging and organized studio.
  • Be passionate about process art and documentation!
  • Be comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather.
  • Be ready to work on a diverse team dedicated to collaboration, inclusivity and professional growth!

Our program draws inspiration from a variety of research-based philosophies including the work of the Reggio-Emilia schools in Italy, Waldorf Education, Montessori Education, and spends the majority of our day outdoors in our well-appointed outdoor classrooms in all kinds of weather. This position would design and maintain an indoor art/sensory studio-classroom, as well as our mud kitchen and small world play areas in our outdoor classroom. This position would spend equal teaching time both indoors and out!
