Job summary

YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support preschool program activities. This on-site position requires availability from 7:00 AM–10:00 AM and/or 3:00 PM–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with multiple days possible.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or CDA preferred, or enrollment in CDA/degree program.
• Three to six months childcare-related experience.
• Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
• Ability and desire to work with infants, toddlers, and preschool children.

Responsibilities

• Assists Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
• Actively engages with children in the classroom.
• Assists with daily parent communication.
• Prepares materials for daily activity.
• Maintains records of attendance, arrival, and departure times.
• Maintains supervision of children.
• Assists with parent-teacher conferences as needed.
• Efficiently communicates with classroom teaching team.
• Performs any other functions deemed necessary for the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association.
