Job summary

Grandsettlement is seeking a Regular Full-Time Assistant Teacher in the Bronx, NY to support 3- to 5-year-olds in a joyful, inclusive classroom. You will partner with the Group Teacher, foster learning through play, and engage families to lay the groundwork for kindergarten readiness.

You will collaborate on meaningful lesson plans, document progress, and participate in coaching and professional development. The role requires strong communication and a commitment to child development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent AND Preschool or Birth to Five CDA credential.
• Enrollment in an approved Associate's degree program in early childhood or related field preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience working with young children preferred.
• Ability to work with children and families with diverse developmental, social, or cultural needs.
• Basic computer literacy (email, Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Create and implement a child-centered curriculum that fosters positive social interactions and active learning.
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design daily lesson plans tailored to each child’s needs.
• Document children’s progress with observations and GOLD assessments.
• Provide nurturing guidance and positive behavior support to build independence.
• Build strong relationships with families and encourage active participation.
• Maintain records, manage supplies, and participate in inventory processes.
• Work with the teaching team to analyze outcomes and improve instructional practices.
• Partner with Family Advocates and coordinators to support children and families holistically.
