Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Teacher Aide to support licensed Preschool/Infant/Toddler classrooms. You will work under a qualified teacher to help implement the curriculum, supervise children, and foster a safe, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities, maintaining ratios, communicating with parents, and following YMCA policies. This role emphasizes positive guidance and collaboration with staff to support youth development and belonging.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; pursuing ECE/CD degree preferred.
• Experience in early childhood settings or group care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Nurture children through purposeful programming to build achievement and belonging.
• Maintain supervision ratios and ensure safety in all activities.
• Assist with planning and implementing curriculum aligned to program guidelines.
• Support positive behavior using constructive approaches and redirection.
• Communicate effectively with parents and engage them as volunteers as appropriate.
• Follow YMCA policies, complete documentation, attend trainings and events.
