The Goddard School of Powhatan is seeking a motivated and caring Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging activities and maintaining a safe, welcoming classroom. You will assist with lesson plans, monitor development, and communicate with families to share daily progress.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must pass state background checks and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.
• Support daily care routines to promote a nurturing learning environment.
