The Goddard School of Powhatan, VA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging activities and maintaining a safe, stimulating classroom. Bring energy, enthusiasm, and creativity to our supportive team and help children grow every day.

You will assist in implementing lesson plans, encourage social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development, and communicate with families about progress, while following health and licensing guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Previous experience working with young children in licensed childcare or preschool.
• Empathy and compassion for young children.
• Able to work productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing environment.
