Qualifications

Job description

Shenandoah University's Child Care Center is accepting applicationsfor a Preschool Assistant Teacher. This is a full-time, benefitedposition located in Winchester, Virginia.

Assist teacher in daily activities; develop and implement lessonplans; meet each child's basic needs; interact with children; takechildren outside daily; communicate with parents about their child's day; clean and sanitize toys and tables; learn andimplement licensing regulations. Maintain a positive learningenvironment in the classroom.

• Strong Communication: The ability to speak gently and clearlyto children, but also professionally collaborate with the leadteacher and give reassuring updates to parents.

Required Experience

• Experience working with young children (ages 2-5) in a licensedchildcare center, preschool, daycare, or structured campsetting.

Education:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or an Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or Child Development.
• Certifications: Active CPR and First Aid certification(Infant/Child/Adult) is almost always mandatory before your firstday.
• Background Clearance: Ability to pass a mandatory state and federal criminal background check and fingerprinting.
