Job summary

Shenandoah University’s Child Care Center in Winchester, VA is seeking substitutes for a part-time role with accrual paid time off. You will support directors, teachers and assistants in daily activities and classroom needs, with a flexible schedule based on staffing requirements.

Candidates must be at least 18, have prior experience with young children, strong communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. CPR/First Aid training and background checks are required.

Job description

Shenandoah University’s Child Care Center is accepting applicationsfor Substitutes. This is a part-time position with Accrual paidtime off located in Winchester, Virginia.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist director, assistant director, teachers and assistants indaily activities and classroom needs; work a flexible schedulebased on staffing needs; complete book orders, dishes, laundry asneeded; maintain confidentiality in all classrooms, keep upbeatattitude.

Required Education Level and Experience:

Shall be at least 18 years of age. Shall have previous experienceworking with young children in a group childcare setting.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Have effective oral and written communication skills, excellentinterpersonal skills, great thinking skills, ability to focus onmulti-tasks, cope with high stress levels, maintainconfidentiality, must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, havephysical dexterity, and have the ability to reach arms above head.Must be willing to receive annually 16 in-service hours, CPR andFirst Aid, and attend staff meetings.

Note: A pre-employment background check and urine screening willbe required, and a satisfactory driving record may be required as acondition of hire.
