Job summary

The Guidance Center is hiring an Assistant Teacher in Michigan. You will plan and implement preschool activities based on the HighScope approach, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children.

Compliance with Head Start standards and policies is required, along with a respectful, culturally aware approach to families and staff. Ideal candidates hold an AA in Early Childhood Education or related field, a CDA or related certificate, or are pursuing an AA/BA while meeting CDA timelines.

Qualifications

• AA in Early Childhood Education or related field with 12 credits in ECE or a CDA
• Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and assist children during emergencies

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement early childhood activities based on the Preschool HighScope curriculum
• Provide a clean, nurturing and safe environment for preschool children
• Adhere to Head Start standards and local policies; demonstrate cultural sensitivity
