Bright Beginnings Academy Merrillville is seeking a Preschool Assistant Teacher to support the classroom team in creating a safe, engaging learning environment for young children. The role involves assisting with daily activities, supervising children, helping implement the curriculum, and communicating with families.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, CDA or TCC preferred, and at least 1 year of childcare experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• TCC or CDA credential.
• At least 1 year of experience with young children in childcare, preschool, or similar setting preferred.
• Must meet state education, certification, licensing, and regulatory requirements including background check and ongoing development.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment for all children.
• Support daily activities and curriculum implementation alongside the lead teacher.
• Provide active supervision, ensuring safety and compliance with required ratios.
• Support children’s development through positive guidance, interaction, and play.
• Assist with classroom routines, organization, and communication with families.
