Job summary

Paladin is seeking a dedicated teaching assistant to support a Head Start classroom in Indiana. You will collaborate with the lead teacher to create developmentally appropriate activities, ensure a safe learning environment, and maintain strong communication with families and staff.

The role requires CDA credentials or progress toward one, CPR/First Aid, and a valid driver’s license. You’ll contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom and participate in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• At minimum, Teacher assistants are to have a CDA credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential.
• Valid Driver’s License and access to a privately-owned vehicle with liability insurance.
• Must have Adult and Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certifications within 30 days from date of hire.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience or ability to engage in positive discipline and developmentally appropriate practices.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead teacher in organizing activities and creating meaningful connections with families.
• Provide a safe, supervised environment with active supervision and emergency procedures.
• Assist with planning ongoing experiences that enhance cognitive, social, emotional, linguistic, and physical development.
• Assist with submitting weekly lessons and unit plans that align with goals and the Lead Teacher.
• Assist with documenting assessments, data, and conference notes.
• Engage in parent engagement opportunities and attend meetings.
