Job summary

Earthplace Preschool in Westport, CT is seeking full‑time assistant teachers for a mixed‑age group (3s, 4s and 5s). You will join a collaborative teaching team to plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum, supervise children, and provide a healthy, safe learning environment.

Ideal candidates have ECE coursework or 2 years with toddlers/preschoolers, strong communication, teamwork, and familiarity with CT regulations and CT ELDS.

Earthplace Preschool is currently hiring multiple full-time assistant teachers for our mixed-age classroom of 3's, 4's, and 5's. Preschool teachers work as part of a team. At Earthplace Preschool, we understand that the teacher's approach and demeanor set the tone for the classroom. An intentional, thoughtful approach and calm demeanor are imperative for success with young children.

About This Role

The assistant teacher is a member of the teaching team who shares the responsibility with the lead teacher for the care and education of an assigned group of children. The assistant teacher is responsible for planning with the teaching team, implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, supervising, and helping to provide a healthy and safe learning environment.

What You'll Do

Earthplace Preschool offers a unique brand of nature-based preschool in Westport, CT. Each day children learn through exploration, investigation, and experimentation. The children construct their own learning using critical thinking skills, creativity, and innovation. Our program for infants and toddlers at Earthplace promises the same high quality of care and innovation. These young children need guidance in language acquisition, encouragement of gross-motor and fine-motor skills, instruction in toilet training, and assistance with sharing, thinking about others’ feelings, and forming true friendships. Earthplace is looking for teachers who have an understanding of child development to help encourage these skills within this unique group of children. Teachers will be offered training opportunities throughout the year. At Earthplace, we encourage and expect teachers to increase their knowledge and facilitate the learning of young children!

Requirements

This is a full-time position eligible for benefits including but limited to PTO, paid holidays, health, dental, life insurance, and reduced tuition rates for childcare if spaces are available.

$17 – $20 / hour based on experience and education level.
