Job description

Summary

We are seeking a nurturing, responsible, and energetic individual to join our ABC Little Sprouts team. The Preschool Assistant will support lead teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curricula, ensuring a safe and engaging environment, and promoting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children aged 3–5 years.

Duties

1. Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities and lesson implementation.
2. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, meals, rest, and transitions.
3. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
4. Support children in developing self-help skills and positive social interactions.
5. Observe children’s behavior and development, reporting any concerns to the lead teacher or director.
6. Prepare materials and set up learning centers under the guidance of the lead teacher.
7. Follow all licensing and safety regulations, including health, sanitation, and emergency procedures.
8. Communicate professionally and positively with children, staff, and families.
9. Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Completion of Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework or willingness to enroll in a 3-credit college course.
• Experience working with young children in a group setting (preferred).
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and meet the physical demands of working with preschool-aged children.
• Patience, compassion, flexibility, and a strong commitment to child development.
