Job summary

St. Thomas More Preschool in Austin, TX seeks an assistant to support teachers and engage pre-kindergarten students in daily activities. You will follow planned lessons, supervise students, and help maintain a healthy learning environment while performing classroom tasks.

The role emphasizes patience with young learners, collaboration with staff, and adherence to school policies. Hours are 9 am–2 pm, Monday through Thursday; two days per week are planned for Mondays and Wednesdays.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma.
• Experience with young children preferred.
• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Compliance with EIM policies throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Helps implement a meaningful learning experience; the Assistant role interacts with children and supports the classroom teacher.
• Follow lesson plans provided by the teacher to create a cohesive learning experience.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage participation and a positive environment.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including playground and cafeteria.
• Assist the teacher in setting up the classroom in the morning and afternoons.
• Clean tables after snacks and lunch, and sweep floors.
• Participate in required training and 24 hours of continuing education.
• Assist in daily cleaning of the classroom.
• Other duties as assigned
