Job summary

St. Thomas More Preschool in Austin seeks a compassionate Substitute to support the classroom teacher, engage preschoolers in planned activities, and help maintain a warm, faith-filled learning environment.

You will follow lesson plans, supervise students in classroom, playground, and cafeteria, assist with setup and cleanup, and uphold Catholic ministry values in daily life; Texas driver’s license required. This part-time role fits a parish community service mindset.

Qualifications

• Passion to influence the lives of pre-kindergarten children.
• Patience in lovingly meeting young learners' spiritual, academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
• Patience in accepting guidance and assignments from the classroom teacher.

Responsibilities

• Help implement a meaningful learning experience; the Substitute role interacts with children in classroom activities and supports the classroom teacher.
• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including playground and cafeteria.
• Assist the teacher in setting up the classroom in the morning and in the afternoons.
• Clean tables after snacks and lunch and sweep the floors.
• Assist in daily cleaning of the classroom.
• Support and uphold Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Thomas More in both professional and personal life.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Grow in ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities.
