Job summary

Nourish Early Learning is seeking a calm, heart-forward assistant to support 4-6 year olds in a play-based, reggio-inspired environment. You will help balance daily routines with meaningful, developmentally appropriate activities and foster a sense of belonging.

As part of a collaborative team, you will nourish children's growth, build connections with families, and participate in ongoing professional development while maintaining safety, structure, and a joyful learning atmosphere.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in child care / preschool assistant.
• Knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Certificate in first aid and CPR (can be attained onsite).
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Early Childhood Education preferred/required.
• FBI & BCII background checks completed.
• Workplace physical as part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a curriculum aligned with developmental milestones and the Nourish philosophy.
• Assist in preparing and executing engaging classroom activities including sensory play and nature-based learning.
• Contribute to planning and supervising field trips, coordinating logistics and safety.
• Supervise children to ensure safety and emotional wellbeing indoors, outdoors, and during transitions.
• Provide warm, responsive care including feeding, toileting, rest, and emotional regulation support.
• Build meaningful connections with children and families through play, storytelling and conversation.
• Model prosocial behavior and help with conflict resolution.
• Participate in routines such as setup, cleanup, and daily transitions; maintain a clean, organized classroom.
• Collaborate with the teaching team and leadership; attend staff meetings and trainings; follow licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

Assistants Educators are responsible for (but not limited to):

• supporting the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a curriculum that aligns with developmental milestones, Ohio state standards, and the child-centered, heartful philosophy of Nourish Early Learning
• assisting in the preparation and execution of engaging classroom activities, including creative expression, sensory play, and nature-based learning experiences
• contributing to the planning and supervision of appropriate field trips, helping to prepare materials, coordinate logistics, and ensure safety and learning
• responsibly supervising children to ensure their physical safety and emotional wellbeing at all times—indoors, outdoors, and during transitions—maintaining ratios and ensuring that no child is left unattended
• providing warm, responsive care, including support with feeding, toileting, rest time, and emotional regulation strategies
• building meaningful connections with each child and family by observing children closely, listening with intention, and engaging with them through play, storytelling, and conversation
• modeling and supporting prosocial behavior, problem-solving skills, and peaceful conflict resolution
• participating in classroom routines such as setup, cleanup, and daily transitions to help maintain a smooth and predictable learning environment
• maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that supports learning, creativity, and a sense of belonging
• collaborating with the teaching team and leadership staff, attending staff meetings, trainings, and reflective supervision as required
• adhering to all licensing requirements and teaching standards as outlined by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) and the policies of Nourish Early Learning
• demonstrating a growth mindset and willingness to learn, ask questions, and receive feedback to grow as an educator and team member

Requirements

The requirements for this position include:
