Job summary

Utica Community Schools seeks a Preschool Assistant to support early childhood programs in Sterling Heights and surrounding locations. The role offers flexible hours with part-time and full-time options, reporting to the Early Childhood Coordinator.

Ideal candidates are team players with nurturing attitudes, at least one year of preschool experience, and the ability to work Monday through Friday; starting immediately.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Annually maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with parents/guardians and staff.
• Discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines.
• Must be able to pass a criminal history and childcare background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to Nursery, Preschool, Full Day Childcare as needed.
• Assist in presenting learning materials and instructional exercises per curriculum to support goals.
• Follow the directions of supervising teacher.
• Assist students individually or in small groups.
• Assist in supervising students during daily instructional activities.
• Assist in managing student discipline through positive reinforcement.
• Respect confidentiality of teachers, students, and parents.
• Maintain knowledge of school routines, emergency procedures, and discipline policy.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
