Lead Preschool Teacher
Utica Community School District – Sterling Heights, Michigan (Location: Various). Position is open until filled.

Starting Date: Immediately
Hours: Part‑time or Full‑time options, Monday‑Friday, approximately 20‑29 hours per week.
Reports To: Early Childhood Coordinator
Job Description: Lead Preschool Teachers are responsible for planning, supervising, and implementing a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom to meet the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs of the children.
Qualifications
- Must meet one of the following education requirements:
- Valid CDA
- Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or a closely related field
- At least 19 years old
- Must have 3 credit hours in Child Care administration
- Must pass a criminal history and childcare background check
- Current CPR and first aid certification (maintained annually)
- Evidence of strong teamwork, interpersonal communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Evidence of accurate record‑keeping
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals
- Ability to assess young children using program assessments and evaluation methods
- Maintains a positive working relationship with parents/guardians and staff
- Discretion with confidential information
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines
Responsibilities
- Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of the classroom program and child assessment through Creative Curriculum
- Maintain a positive, appropriate educational program that meets the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of the children within their care
- Develop and implement age‑appropriate lesson plans for the children in your care
- Ensure all State of Michigan licensing rules are followed in your classroom
- Communicate daily with parents
- Train and lead assistant teachers in your classroom
- Provide children with a consistent classroom routine
- Implement experiential learning activities to advance intellectual and emotional competence of preschoolers
- Provide positive guidance and discipline supporting children as they acquire readiness skills for kindergarten and beyond
- Frequently lift or move weight (lifting, carrying, or holding children up to 60 lbs)
- Repetitively bend, stretch, and stoop; work with children on the floor; fully maintain sight and sound child supervision; perform light cleaning duties; other duties as assigned
Salary
Starting pay is based on education and experience: $18.75 to $21.75 Per Hour
