Job summary

Shepherd's Care in Maple Grove, MN, is looking for an enthusiastic childcare assistant to support teachers in creating a warm, nurturing environment for children's physical, mental, and emotional development. You will interact with children, families, and staff to maintain safety and positive learning experiences.

The role requires teamwork, flexibility, and adherence to DHS guidelines. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, with willingness to obtain if needed.

Qualifications

Shepherd's Care is a Christian Childcare Center located in Maple Grove. This position requires you to assist the teachers in providing a warm and nurturing environment for children to meet their physical, mental, spiritual, social and emotional needs. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with policies and procedures. Works under direct supervision of the Teacher and Assistant Teacher. Must be pleasant, respectful, and courteous to all children, families, visitors and fellow employees at all times.

Qualifications

• Ability to perceive children's needs and develop positive relationships with children and families
• Ability to anticipate and diffuse problems and disruptive situations
• Supervises a class with the Lead Teacher
• Helps the teacher implement the daily lesson plans and classroom activities
• Helps with necessary housekeeping duties of the classroom, common use areas and playgrounds
• Works effectively in a team
• Ability to adapt to frequent changes in activity, priorities, and/or work schedules

Requirements

• CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
• Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors
• Must be able to get up and down off the floor, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in activity with children
• Be able to communicate with children and their parents in English
• Meet Minnesota DHS qualifications for position and pass required DHS background check
