Job summary

SATO America LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Prepress Technician in Romeoville, IL to assemble tooling and prepare dies and printing plates for press operations.

You will inspect tooling, coordinate with vendors, manage tooling inventory, and support ink mixing, safety, and general duties in a manufacturing environment. The role requires lifting up to 60 lbs and adhering to quality specifications.

Qualifications

  • Experience with press tooling and dies.
  • Ability to read and follow specifications accurately.
  • Basic math and color perception; attention to tolerances.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tooling inventory; maintain records of tools for run time, age, use, etc.

SUMMARY

Assembles and prepares tooling used by press operators to complete printing jobs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble and prepare tooling used by press operators to complete printing jobs
  • Prepare dies, perforation cylinders and printing plates from copy card and deliver to appropriate press.
  • Inspect tooling for damage prior to restocking; inspect new tooling for quality and accuracy based on specifications.
  • Work with vendors to coordinate new tooling, retooling, scheduling of pick up/delivery and other needs or concerns.
  • Manage tooling inventory; maintain records of tools for run time, age, use, etc.
  • Order parts and pressroom supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels as required.
  • Mix ink to specifications when necessary; additional training will be provided for this function.
  • Report any unsafe condition(s), injury, or accident immediately to the supervisor.
  • Handle plant recycling activities
  • Support troubleshooting at press when needed.
  • Run presses through breaks and lunches; additional training will be provided for this function.
  • Operate forklift equipment; additional training will be provided for this function.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Experience will vary based on staffing needs in the press services area; experience will be assessed based on these needs. Educational requirement may include a technical certification from college or vocational school or three to sixmonths related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to effectively communicate with vendors and internal customers. Basic computer skills, hand dexterity, ability to regularly lift and/or move objects up to 60 lbs without assistance, higher weights with assistance. Visual color perception; basic math skills.
