Job summary

American Packaging Corporation, a leading flexible packaging converter, seeks a Prepress Operator in Chili, NY. The role focuses on preparing and staging press or laminator jobs, ensuring safety and quality while following SOPs and specifications.

On a 7am-7pm 2-2-3 schedule, responsibilities include training teammates, following STOP safety guidelines, and managing job jackets and production schedules. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with 1–3 months related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1–3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Train and instruct team members on safe use of tools and equipment to ensure safety and procedures are followed.
• Follow STOP Safety Program fundamentals and safety guidelines to target a zero-accident rate.
• Develop, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures and training documents.
• Review Job Jacket, Print Specification, and Manufacturing Specification for each job and bring to the press.
• Retrieve daily production schedule and interpret priorities for run.
• Detect and report missing or substandard machine parts.
• Use automated storage system to manage cylinders and aniloxes.
• Coordinate with Mounting Dept regarding production schedule and job staging.
• Assemble, transport, and install cylinders and aniloxes between printing areas.
• Return units to prepress and clean components after a job runs.
• Assist with press set-ups and housekeeping duties.
• Operate daily a core cutter for accurate core sizes.
• Complete required reports and paperwork and use a computer terminal.
• Perform cleaning tasks and obtain Power Industrial Truck license(s).
• Communicate effectively with coworkers across shifts and attend mandated meetings.
• Travel may be required.
