Job summary

American Packaging Corporation is seeking a Prepress Operator for the days shift (7am-7pm) in Cedar City, IA. The role focuses on preparing and staging press or laminator jobs, handling cylinders, and ensuring safe, efficient operation while adhering to SOPs and quality standards.

The position requires basic education (GED or high school diploma) and may involve on-the-job training, reading job specifications, and maintaining detailed production records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate on-the-job training for team members on tool usage and safety procedures.
• Follow STOP Safety Program fundamentals and safety guidelines to support zero-accident goals.
• Develop, understand, and follow Standard Operating Procedures and training documents.
• Review Job Jackets and Print Specifications and bring them to the press.
• Retrieve daily production schedules and interpret prioritization for jobs.
• Detect and report missing or substandard machine parts.
• Operate storage systems to handle cylinders and anilox rolls.
• Coordinate with Mounting Dept on production schedule and job staging.
• Assemble and transport print cylinders and aniloxes between departments.
• Perform daily cleaning and housekeeping tasks; operate core cutter for print cores.
