Job summary

SAI Gulf LLC in Brookwood, AL seeks a Prep Technician to support sample preparation, analysis, and equipment maintenance. You will follow work instructions to ensure quality and safety, perform soil and coal sample preparation, and help maintain lab cleanliness and calibration.

Responsibilities include sample login, documentation, sieve analysis, moisture tests, and adherence to ASTM standards. Must be 21+, have a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift 35 lbs.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a Prep Technician position is a plus.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, power tools, cleaning tools, and safety systems is a plus.
• Ability to execute detailed written or oral instructions ensuring accurate results.
• Ability to multi-task in a busy environment and meet deadlines.
• Read and write English; basic mathematics and legible handwriting.

Responsibilities

• Mark and secure samples upon receipt and document before prep.
• Prepare samples per directives and specifications (ASTM, policies).
• Crush, pulverize and split coal samples for lab work.
• Perform sieve analysis and moisture determinations with records.
• Maintain prep area equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
• Communicate instructions to relief prep technician and ensure understanding.
• Complete safety training; use PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures.
• Maintain safety awareness and report incidents to Lab Manager.
• Keep work area clean and monitor hazards; assist with equipment/calibration.
