Job summary

SAI Gulf, LLC seeks a hands-on Lab Tech/Prep Tech Supervisor to lead daily laboratory preparation and support operations in LaPlace, LA. You will supervise prep technicians, prioritize work, and ensure accuracy and compliance with safety and QA standards.

Responsibilities include overseeing sample prep, labeling, equipment care, and reviewing results for accuracy, while coaching staff and supporting continuous improvement. This full-time role may require overtime and offers company benefits.

About SAI Gulf, LLC:

SAI Gulf specializes in the sampling and analysis of solid fuels such as coal, coke, and petroleum coke in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region and samples over 45 million tons of dry bulk commodities annually.

SAI Gulf currently operates three testing laboratories fully equipped to provide sample preparation and analytical services for dry bulk fuel commodities.

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Lab Tech/Prep Tech Supervisor to lead daily laboratory preparation and support operations. This role supervises technicians (Lab and Prep) while actively participating in sample preparation and lab work to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership

• Supervise, train, and schedule prep technicians
• Assign daily work priorities to meet production timelines
• Monitor performance and provide coaching feedback
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, and evaluations
• Enforce SOPs, policies, and safety standards

Prep Operations

• Perform and oversee sample preparation and labeling
• Ensure proper equipment use and maintenance
• Review results for accuracy and compliance
• Troubleshoot issues and escalated as needed

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to OSHA, CLIA, FDA, ISO, and internal standards
• Enforce safety procedures and PPE usage
• Support audits and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate documentation

Collaboration

• Coordinate with lab management and other teams
• Communicate workflow status and staffing needs
• Support process improvement efforts

Qualifications

Education:

• Highschool Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

• 3–5 years supervisory/ management experience

• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Work Requirements

Location and Commitments:

• Full-time position located in LaPlace, LA
• Hourly Salary $20-$25 DOE
• This position may require overtime
