Straub Collaborative is seeking detail-oriented Prep Stylists to support our in-house production studio on an as-needed basis. This hands-on role focuses on preparing footwear, apparel, and accessories so they are organized, camera-ready, and properly tracked throughout the production process.

This position is ideal for individuals seeking flexible, project-based work rather than a fixed weekly schedule.

Why this role matters

Prep Stylists ensure merchandise flows smoothly through the studio — from intake to preparation to return — helping production stay efficient and organized.

What You’ll Do
  • Prepare footwear, apparel, and accessories for photography (steaming, cleaning, shaping, organizing)
  • Perform prep and de-prep of products before and after shoots
  • Tag, track, and document merchandise in internal systems
  • Move products between staging areas, sets, and storage locations
  • Maintain organized product storage and prep areas
  • Support sample management and rack organization
  • Assist with packing and preparing merchandise for shipment or storage
  • Communicate product issues or discrepancies to the team
  • Maintain supplies needed for prep activities
  • These duties support preparation and movement of merchandise through the studio production process
Qualifications
  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in merchandising, retail, warehouse, or product-handling roles
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Basic computer skills for tracking and documentation
  • Preferred: Experience in a photo studio, creative production, wardrobe, or retail merchandising environment strongly preferred
  • Retail stockroom, visual merchandising, or inventory handling experience
  • Experience preparing products for display, photography, or presentation
  • Familiarity with barcoding or inventory tracking systems
  • Experience working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Physical Requirements

This is an active, on-your-feet role:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Repetitive use of hands (steaming, tagging, prepping)
  • Occasional lifting, pushing, or carrying up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working with ladders and elevated storage areas
  • Moving safely throughout studio and warehouse spaces
Schedule & Availability
  • Part-time, on-call / as-needed basis
  • Hours vary depending on production schedules
  • No guaranteed weekly hours
  • Advance notice will be provided when possible
  • Must be available to work on-site when scheduled
  • Flexible daytime availability strongly preferred
  • This role supports fluctuating production needs and team capacity
