Job summary

Torchy’s Richmond, TX is hiring a Prep Cook to produce items per the daily prep sheet, following Torchy’s standards and Taco Bible recipes. You will keep a clean, organized kitchen, set up/break down your station, and assist with other duties as needed.

You’ll handle masa, tortilla pressing, and tortilla cooking while ensuring food safety and proper labeling. Familiarity with fryer, grill, flat top, dicers, and scales is required; 18+ and Food Handler’s certification are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must meet state and local requirements for Food Handler’s certification.
• Certification must be obtained by first day or within required timeline.
• Familiarity with kitchen equipment listed (fryer, grills, flat top, etc.).
• Physical ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
• Basic knife safety, reading and communication, multitasking capability.
• Kitchen experience is a plus.
• Age 18 or older.

Responsibilities

• Produce food items per the prep sheet and Torchy’s standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen including walk-in and equipment.
• Set up and breakdown station; ensure shift readiness and post-shift cleanliness.
• Follow Taco Bible recipes accurately to uphold standards.
• Practice proper food safety and HACCP; manage inventory FIFO.
• Record pre/post-weights and yields; label and date items.
• Rotate products and assist with other duties as needed.
• Produce masa and press corn tortillas; prep flour tortillas.
• Cook tortillas on flat top to required specifications.
