Job Summary

The Prep Cook assists cooks in the preparation and service of menu items, performs additional duties as assigned, and maintains a clean kitchen environment. The role reports to the Culinary Services Manager and is an hourly, non‑exempt position.

Essential Job Functions

• Assists cooks in preparing all food items following proper recipes and procedures.
• Ensures all food items are prepared in a timely fashion to maintain freshness.
• Prepares all foods in a manner to preserve freshness and nutrients to meet dietary requirements of residents.
• Meets regularly with the Culinary Services Manager to discuss menu preparation and recipes.
• Ensures the kitchen is always clean and sanitary.
• Monitors all storage areas for proper labeling and dating; keeps areas clean and organized.
• Assists with planning and preparing special events.
• Tracks all production and temperature logs.
• Provides a high level of customer service to residents and team members.
• Attends assigned meetings as required.
• May assist as a Cook as needed.
• Assists with other assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Physical demands include lifting, bending from the waist, stooping, and twisting, as conditions warrant. Working hours may be long and irregular, including evenings and weekends.
