Job summary

Avanti Senior Living in Lafayette, LA is seeking a Cook to support the culinary team and serve residents with prepared meals that meet quality and service standards.

You will assist the chef, participate in meal prep, and help with room service, salads, soups and desserts, while maintaining cleanliness and safety. Flexibility for holidays and events is expected at a senior housing environment.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work with the elderly in a senior living environment.
• Able to prepare therapeutic/modified diets.
• Able to prepare food in a senior housing environment, meeting hospitality standards.
• Able to work on all holidays and for pre-planned events.
• Good knife skills and familiarity with cooking methods.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with staff and external constituents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef in all daily activities.
• Assist in all meal service prep.
• Wash all resident’s dishes during meal service.
• Assist in preparing and stocking room service carts and running trays.
• Assist in preparation of salads, soups and desserts.
• Maintain or exceed standards of appearance, cleanliness, hygiene, and health standards.
• Practice all safety and loss prevention procedures.
• Attend all in-services as required.
• Follow all local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
• Assist with proper documentation of temperature logs, taste panel forms, and cleaning schedules.
• Promote the Vision, Values, and Mission of Avanti Senior Living.
• Other duties as assigned or may be necessary.

Responsible for food preparation that meets or exceeds hospitality and service standards of Avanti.
