Job summary

Aviva Senior Living in Granbury, TX, is seeking a Cook to assist with two shifts per week. You will prepare and present meals in a fine dining style, handle prep work, and ensure food safety and quality while maintaining a positive relationship with residents and staff.

The role supports humane, respectful care for seniors and involves complying with dietary requirements, inventory, and sanitation standards. Pay advance may be available and benefits accrue with full-time status.

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• 1–2 years related work experience preferred.
• SERV Safe Certification or ability to obtain.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to work with elderly in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to safely handle food per procedures and regulations.

Shift Details:

We are currently searching for a Cook to assist with two shifts a week. Please note, this may change throughout employment as needed with notice.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain a positive working relationship with all residents, resident family members, and associates.
• Maintain a high degree of resident and guest satisfaction through consistent delivery of high-quality services.
• Effectively and appropriately communicate with each co-worker and community leader.
• Prepare and present meals according to the planned menus, accommodating special diets, in a fine dining style.
• Performs prep work for upcoming meals and events.
• Completes food inventory on hand, accounting for usage and deliveries.
• Maintains refrigerator and freezer in a clean and organized manner as well as proper temperature control, ensuring proper food temperatures for hot and cold items.
• Assure foods are prepared, stored, and labeled according to proper kitchen and food procedures.
• Always ensure only food serving items are present in and around the serving station.
• Use cleaners and other hazardous materials according to department procedure.
• Complete and adhere to all other tasks and responsibilities set by the direct supervisor.

Qualifications, skills, and abilities:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• One to two years of related work experience preferred
• SERVE Safe Certified (or able to achieve certification)
• Ability to read and write in English
• Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to safely handle food in accordance with facility policies and procedures, as well as all state and federal regulations.
