Job summary

The Kitchen Bistro in Austin seeks a prep cook to assist in the preparation of meals from scratch and support back-of-house duties. You will work with a high-energy team to deliver quality dishes in a modern, rustic setting.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, eager to learn, and adaptable, with a focus on teamwork and community involvement. This is a full-time position offering opportunities for growth within The Kitchen.

Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of the restaurant food industry and ability to take instruction well.
• One year of experience or comparable in food service.
• Strong communication skills and adaptable temperament.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assist in meal preparation and portion ingredients per chef specs.
• Wash, cut, and prep vegetables; salads and meats.
• Portion, plate dishes and ensure proper storage of leftovers.
• Maintain food safety and temperature standards.
• Open/close the restaurant and support team as needed.
• Support eco-conscious culture and community involvement.
