Job summary

The Dinex Group is opening Blue box Café by Daniel Boulud in Costa Mesa and is seeking experienced Prep Cooks to join our team. The Prep Cook handles initial prep of produce, meat, seafood and poultry, unloads deliveries, stocks and rotates products, and reports to the Executive Chef.

We value clear communication, the ability to work with minimal supervision, sanitation, and delivering high-quality food in a fast-paced kitchen.

Qualifications

• Basic knife skills required.
• Ability to read and follow instructions and standards.
• Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely, accurate and high-quality manner.
• Actively practice food safety procedures.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Good time management.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with managers and teammates.
• Work effectively with minimal supervision when Executive/Sous Chef unavailable.
• Keep production at level required by Executive Chef.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment.
• Maintain high food quality as established by Executive Chef.
• Maintain high standards set by Executive Chef.
• Minimize waste and discard spoiled food as per procedures.
• Adapt to changes as instructed by the Chef during the shift.
