The Delicatessen in Phoenix, AZ is seeking hardworking Prep Cooks to join our chef-driven kitchen. You’ll follow daily prep lists, wash and portion ingredients, and assist with sauces and par-cooking to keep service running smoothly.

We prize team players with strong organization, attention to detail, and a positive attitude who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. A Food Handler card is preferred, and culinary school is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Previous prep cook experience preferred.
• Knowledge of kitchen safety and sanitation practices.
• Comfortable using knives, kitchen tools, and equipment.
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.
• Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills.
• Ability to stand for long periods and work in a busy kitchen environment.
• Culinary school training is a plus, but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Current Food Handler card.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily prep lists created by chefs.
• Wash, chop, portion, and prepare ingredients for service.
• Measure ingredients and seasonings accurately.
• Assist with basic cooking tasks including sauces, par-cooking, and simple dishes.
• Label, organize, and stock ingredients properly.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized kitchen.
• Store food items properly and follow FIFO procedures.
• Support the culinary team with additional kitchen duties as needed.
• Follow all health, sanitation, and food safety standards.
