Job description

The Prep Cook supports the chef and cooks in preparing ingredients for meals and the salad bar. Responsibilities include light cooking such as frying, grilling, and other duties as necessary.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $18.19-$22.28 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping vegetables, and cutting meat.
  • Perform basic cooking duties, including light frying and grilling.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads and entrees.
  • Ensure items are properly cut, labeled, dated, and stored to maintain freshness and comply with regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned to support the department's mission.
  • Follow all relevant sanitary regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary training is a plus.
  • Ability to pass ServSafe certification within one year of hire.
  • At least one year of experience as a prep cook.
  • Proficiency in knife skills: cutting, chopping, and slicing.
  • Attention to detail in following recipes and preparation instructions.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle the physical demands of a busy kitchen.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs multiple times daily and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Capable of pushing and pulling up to 150 lbs frequently. Must perform manual tasks and operate kitchen equipment safely, with long periods of standing.
