Job summary

Oak Hammock at the University of Florida in Gainesville is seeking a Prep Cook to support our kitchen team. You will prepare ingredients, assist head chef, and help ensure timely service for all in-service areas.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or equivalent, some food prep experience, and the ability to read recipes and instructions. You will work in a community setting with seniors, emphasizing safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Six months of food preparation experience or training.
• Must be able to read and understand written instructions.
• Able to communicate effectively.
• Ability to read and understand recipes.
• Empathetic, energetic and able to work with a diverse senior population.

Responsibilities

• Familiar with different cuts of meats, fish, and fowl; trim per recipe or protocol.
• Prepare ingredients for all in-service areas.
• Daily clean-up of food preparation areas, equipment, floors, and tables.
• Organize food preparation areas, freezers, coolers, and storerooms.
• Date and rotate products by date.
• Maintain accuracy of production worksheets and inventory records.
• Receive, label, and store incoming deliveries.
• Report quality concerns to management.
• Follow all safety and food safety procedures.
• Attend required training and staff meetings.
• Maintain confidentiality of residents' PHI.
