Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services is hiring for full-time and part-time PREP COOK positions at 1000 Fulton Avenue, Hempstead, NY 11550. The fixed pay rate is $18.40 per hour, with schedules Tue–Sun and Sun–Thu, 9:00 am–5:00 pm or 2:00 pm–10:00 pm.

Role involves following recipes, preparing items from production sheets, maintaining quality, HACCP guidelines, and serving customers at multiple stations in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a high-volume professional kitchen using knives and commercial cutting equipment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily production schedule and preparation requirements from the Chef.
• Prepare items on production sheets following established quantities and recipes.
• Complete and follow daily production worksheets and waste log sheets. Taste finished meals to ensure quality.
• Operate and clean equipment per department procedures after each use.
• Store, label, and date all food items according to policy and follow HACCP guidelines.
• Complete all required documentation, reports, and logs.
• Comply with all federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations.
• Take customer orders and prepare items requiring a short preparation time.
• Serve customers efficiently and courteously.
• Complete orders from steam tables and grill and serve customers at multiple stations.
• Use approved recipes and production standards to maintain quality, serving temperatures and portion control.
• Resolve customer concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
