Job Description for Prep Cook at Au Cheval New York

Au Cheval New York is seeking dedicated and experienced Full Time Prep Cooks ($21-$22/hour) to join our team!

Experience & Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of prep experience in a fast-paced, full-service restaurant.
  • A passion for excellence, high service standards, and a positive attitude.
  • Open availability including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • The ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift, including frequent bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and stooping.
  • The ability to remain positive and productive in potentially hot or cold work environments.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies, ensuring proper inventory control.
  • Cook and prepare menu items in cooperation with kitchen staff according to the Hogsalt Recipe Index, ensuring food quality and timing standards are met.
  • Maintain high communication levels, understand call-back procedures for menu items, and keep dialogue relevant to service.
  • Respond to instructions from Sous Chef, Executive Chef, or other leadership.
  • Properly clean and break down stations at the end of service, adhering to food handling and storage standards.
  • Ensure kitchen operations and hygiene meet food safety standards at all times.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude with coworkers, leadership, and vendors.
