Job summary

Pura Vida Miami is seeking a hands-on kitchen team member to prepare ingredients, maintain a clean work area, and support chefs in a fast-paced environment. You will follow recipes, assist with inventory, and help ensure food safety and quality across daily operations.

Ideal candidates bring 1–2 years in food production, understand measurement systems, and can lift up to 50 pounds. Growth opportunities exist within a dynamic, equal-opportunity team focused on delicious, wholesome offerings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in food production or fast-paced kitchen.
• Food Handler certification preferred, obtained by applicant.
• Strong understanding of cooking methods, equipment and procedures.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Great communication and teamwork abilities.
• Must be familiar with measurement systems and lifts up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Prep ingredients as per recipes and kitchen needs.

• Assist chefs by measuring and mixing ingredients and other prep tasks.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist inventory by labeling and storing ingredients; notify low stock.
• Perform daily and deep cleaning tasks to maintain hygiene.
• Assist in receiving deliveries and store appropriately.
• Cross-train across roles to support growth and team success.
• Support with any additional duties assigned.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prep ingredients as per the recipes and kitchen needs.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all food is stored properly and safely.
• Support the chefs by measuring and mixing ingredients and performing other food preparation tasks as directed.
• Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with inventory control by properly labeling and storing ingredients and notifying the Kitchen Manager of low stock levels.
• Perform daily and deep cleaning tasks in the kitchen to maintain a hygienic environment.
• Assist in receiving deliveries and putting them away in appropriate storage areas.
• Show willingness and ability to cross-train across various roles in the restaurant to ensure rapid growth in responsibilities and contribution to team success.
• Support with any additional duties assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a food production facility, fast-paced restaurant, etc.
• Local/municipal requirements, such as Food Handler certification, acquired at applicant’s own expense.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality food.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Great communication and teamwork skills.
• Must be familiar with the measurement system.
• Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.
