Job summary

Ashley Furniture Industries in Atlanta is seeking a Prep & Assembly Lead to ensure all merchandise is assembled and ready for customers while guiding distribution center associates.

You will supervise daily routines, train staff, ensure safety and proper handling of furniture with a two-wheel dolly, and coordinate unloading, inspection, and customer pickups.

Responsibilities

• Ensure merchandise is unpacked, prepped, assembled and in perfect condition for customers
• Direct daily routines of distribution center associates
• Unload inbound product and locate merchandise in designated bays
• Oversee training of employees and ensure safe operation of material handling equipment
• Supervise handling of returns, repairs, or vendor merchandise
• Assist with warehouses tasks and customer pickups
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the distribution center
• Uphold safety procedures and quality standards

Job description

The Prep & Assembly Lead is responsible for ensuring all merchandise displayed and sold by the store is assembled and in perfect condition with complete customer satisfaction and also responsible for providing direction to other distribution center associates.

Primary Job Functions

• Knowledge of all unpacking, prep, and assembly procedures and specifications required to properly prepare all merchandise in the company's product lines
• Ensure the company objective of total customer satisfaction is achieved by guaranteeing all merchandise is in perfect condition
• Unload inbound product
• Ability to locate merchandise in designated shipping bays for delivery
• Repackage all returned, pulled, repaired or return to vendor merchandise prior to relocation into racks
• Service customers by assuming all aspects of warehouse customer pickups, including unpacking, inspection, meeting customers, payment and loading
• Must be able to safely maneuver furniture on a two-wheel dolly without the aid of another person
• Clean and organize Distribution Center
• Assist with various warehouse tasks when needed
• Continual heavy lifting throughout the day and assistance when required
• Assist with training employees on required job assignments/tasks
• Ensure employees ability to safely operate material handling equipment to move materials
• Ensure employees are complying with all safety procedures when operating machinery
• Oversee daily routines and quality of work performed by assigned team members
• Other duties as assigned
