Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball is hiring an RN PreOp to support preoperative patient care in a busy hospital setting. You will evaluate patients, educate families, prepare for procedures, and work within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and smooth perioperative flow.

The role emphasizes rapid assessment, adherence to universal protocols, and ongoing education of patients and caregivers about treatment plans and follow-up.

Qualifications

• ACLS/BLS/PALS certifications required within 30 days of start date.
• RN license and appropriate nursing degree required.
• No travel, no experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure
• Prepare patients including IV therapy and preoperative meds
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to safe care
• Monitor patient condition and document changes
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and follow-up
