Job Title: RN - Preop/ PACU Registered Nurse PRN
Essential Functions:
Assists in the provision of nursing care to patients in a same-day surgery setting. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician’s orders and center policies. Monitors and controls the use of supplies and ensures patient safety and infection control efforts.

Clinical Manager/Administrator
Education/Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse License
- Current American Heart Assn. BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Assesses, develops, and implements total nursing care for pre-operative and post-operative patients
- Records and reports symptoms, reactions, abnormalities, and changes in physical and/or mental conditions of post-operative patients
- Administers medications and treatments ordered by physicians
- Cares for and discharges post-operative patients according to facility policies
- Able to accurately assess the need for pain and/or nausea medication
- An order always precedes medication administration
- Knows intended actions and side effects of medications
- Documents medication administration
- Maintains patient and employee privacy and confidentiality
- Provides patient education and high-quality customer service
- Provides psychological support to patients and/or families
- Maintains rapport with co-workers, management, physicians, allied health staff, and sales reps
- Admits patients to the pre-operative area
- Performs routine stocking of medications and supplies
- Able to clean bays between patient use
- Functions independently in emergency situations
- Able to make quick, logical decisions based on sound judgment
- Maintains competence through continuing education and meets CEU re-licensure requirements
- Assists in orientation of new employees with current departmental policies
- Acts as a resource for new employees
- Maintains supplies and cleanliness in the work environment
- Starts IVs
