Job summary

USPI Spicewood Surgery Center in Austin, TX is seeking a motivated PreOp/PACU/Circulator to join our team. We operate two OR rooms for outpatient procedures in Pain Management; position requires weekdays only with no holidays, weekends, or on‑call, and may include early mornings or late evenings depending on schedule.

PreOp duties include health assessment, ID verification, consent checks, and IV initiation.

Qualifications

  • Current Texas Nursing License.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and BLS.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum 2-year experience in a hospital or ASC setting.
  • Cross training across perioperative settings.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-operative: assess health, verify wristband, ensure consent are in order.
  • Determine surgeon and procedure; record vitals and initiate IVs.
  • Post-operative: monitor vitals, document findings, educate patients and families.
  • OR Circulating: assist with equipment and maintain sterile field; advocate for patient safety.

Job description

USPISpicewood Surgery Centeris seeking a motivated PreOp/PACU/Circulatorto join our team. We have 2 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Pain Management. Position requires weekdays only -- no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required; schedule subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of the day

Pre-operative Duties
  • Assess the status of patients' health in pre-op and ensure accuracy of identification wristband
  • Ensure that operative and informed consents are in order
  • Determine the surgeon and procedure being carried out
  • Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
  • Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure and attending medical staff
Post-operative Duties
  • Assess patients' condition after a surgery has been performed
  • Ensure that all vitals are within normal range
  • Log all findings in patients' files
  • Answer patients' questions and ensure that they are kept comfortable
  • Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the doctor
  • Initiate patient education programs to ensure that both patients and families are educated on procedures and medications
  • Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies
OR Circulating Duties
  • Assisting with equipment
  • Serving as a patient advocate and ensuring patient safety at all times
  • Assisting with positioning the patient
  • Monitoring the patient's condition throughout the entire surgical process and acting quickly to respond to any changes
  • Maintaining the sterile field at all times
  • Exhibiting skillful clinical judgment and assessment skills
