The role focuses on prenatal education for expectant parents, primarily in formal classroom settings, with some one‑to‑one interactions. A clinical background in labor and delivery and strong presentation skills are essential.

Required BSN and 1–2 years of group teaching experience; IL RN licensure or equivalent certification. Certifications such as ICEA or Lamaze are preferred.

Qualifications

• RN with Illinois license and clinical background in labor and delivery.
• BSN degree required with 1–2 years of group teaching experience.
• Certified childbirth educator or BLS instructor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides childbirth preparation and prenatal education to expectant couples in a classroom setting.
• Reviews and updates class curriculum to reflect changing clinical practice recommendations.
• Identifies learning needs and provides individualized instruction based on group needs.
• Evaluates teaching effectiveness and adjusts the teaching accordingly.
• Collaborates with NMH staff to plan and evaluate women’s health programs for the community.
• Performs special projects as assigned.
