Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Childbirth Educator RN to provide structured prenatal education to expectant parents in a classroom or virtual setting. The ideal candidate must be a Registered Nurse in Illinois with a Bachelor's in Nursing, and have qualifications as a BLS instructor or Certified Childbirth Educator. Excellent presentation skills and experience in labor and delivery are essential. This role also involves collaborating with colleagues to plan women's health programs and continuously assess educational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Must be a BLS instructor, Certified Childbirth Educator, Certified Breast Feeding Counselor, or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
• At least 1 year of labor and delivery or postpartum RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide childbirth preparation and prenatal education to expectant couples.
• Review and update class curriculum with department leadership.
• Identify learning needs and provide individualized instruction.
• Utilize an empowerment model to foster positive health decision-making.
• Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating women’s health programs.
