Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens seeks a Child and Family Educator for the Early Head Start Prenatal Program. The role guides pregnant participants through health education, nutrition, and fetal development during weekly home visits to support healthy births and smooth transitions for babies into family-focused services.

A caseload of 12 expectant mothers will be managed with education and community linkage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Early Childhood Education or related field.
• At least 1 year of related experience with ages 0-3 in a preschool setting.
• Bilingual Spanish/English or other languages with English preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and travel across NYC boroughs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly home visits with each family and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth information.
• Coordinate with parents to ensure prenatal, well-child exams, immunizations and nutrition assessments are completed and followed up.
• Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings and other assessments promptly.
• Support parent and child activities that foster development in infants and toddlers.
• Provide input in Early Child Development training and participate in program self-assessments.
• Maintain accurate written/electronic records and perform other duties as assigned.
