Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens is seeking a Child and Family Educator for the Early Head Start Prenatal Program in New York City. You will conduct weekly home visits with pregnant mothers and families, sharing information on fetal development, nutrition, labor, delivery, and breastfeeding to support healthy births.

You will coordinate with parents to ensure prenatal and well-child exams, health screenings, and nutrition assessments, and maintain records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, or related field.
• At least 1 year of experience with ages 0-3 in a preschool setting or practicum.
• Bilingual abilities in Spanish/English or other languages preferred.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and travel throughout the five boroughs as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct weekly home visits with each family and deliver health, educational, nutritional and child growth information to parents.
• Coordinate with parents to ensure prenatal and well-child exams, immunizations, health screenings, and nutrition assessments.
• Complete family partnership agreements, developmental screenings and necessary assessments with families promptly.
• Provide support for parent and child activities that promote developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers.
• Contribute to designing and delivering Early Child Development training for parents, staff and FCC providers.
• Participate in annual Program Self-Assessment and follow-up reporting.
• Maintain accurate written/electronic records (e.g., TSG assessments, IFSP documentation, screening tools, lesson plans).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
