Job summary

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is building its Maryland roster of certified American Sign Language interpreters for assignments with government agencies across the state, delivered in person and by video.

The work is community and government interpreting: public meetings and testimony, resident appointments at agency offices, employee meetings and trainings, and formal proceedings such as administrative hearings and investigatory interviews.

Qualifications

• Current NIC certification (NIC, NIC Advanced, NIC Master, CI, CT, or CSC).
• Maryland sign language interpreter licensing when effective (1/1/2028).
• Experience in community or government settings, both directions, formal settings.

Responsibilities

• Interpret between spoken English and American Sign Language in meetings, appointments, trainings and formal proceedings.
• Match consumer's preferred mode and sign language to spoken English.
• Deliver video remote and on-site assignments with stable video/audio; reconnect quickly if dropped.
• Work in a two-interpreter team for long, technical, or high-stakes assignments.
• Maintain neutrality and confidentiality; handle materials securely.
• Accept assignments promptly and submit records and invoices on time.
