Job summary

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is building a Maryland roster of certified ASL interpreters for assignments with government agencies across the state, delivered in person and by video.

Work includes public meetings, agency appointments, staff trainings, and formal proceedings. Long assignments may be performed in teams of two, with per-assignment billing and reimbursement for on-site costs.

Qualifications

• Current national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NIC, NIC Advanced, NIC Master, CI and CT, or CSC).
• Compliance with Maryland licensing requirement when it takes effect (Jan 1, 2028). CLFC supports applications.
• Professional interpreting experience in community or government settings, including bidirectional register in formal settings.

Responsibilities

• Interpret between spoken English and American Sign Language in public meetings, agency appointments, employee meetings, trainings and formal proceedings.
• Match consumer's preferred mode, including signed English and transliteration, to spoken English.
• Deliver video remote and on-site assignments with stable video/audio and quick reconnection if dropped.
