Job summary

McConnell Golf’s club in Durham is hiring a full-time server to provide high-level food and beverage service to members and guests. You’ll set up service areas, greet diners, suggest menu items and wines, and ensure accurate billing while keeping the dining room clean and well-staffed.

Must have Grade 12 and prior wait service experience; food safety and alcohol certifications are required. Expect physical duties, standing for long periods, and working in a busy club environment.

Qualifications

• Greet and acknowledge members and guests.
• Knowledge of menu, buffet and wine list.
• Ability to time the service of each course.
• Learn members’ names and their preferences.
• Knowledge of wines and spirits.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures as required.

Responsibilities

• Sets up side station and performs assigned side (prep) work.
• Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon seating.
• Ensures children are safely seated.
• Distributes menus and answers questions about items.
• Pours water, suggests daily specials and wine pairings.
• Ensures accurate billing with correct account numbers and names.
• Serves meals and beverages courteously, clears and resets tables.
• Coordinates with kitchen on orders and special instructions.
• Records tips and payments per SOPs.
• Maintains clean dining room and bus station areas.

Education

Grade 12 education

Two years of comparable wait service experience preferred

Reading, writing and basic math skills
