Premium Bartender | Part-Time | Penn State University Athletics

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for the service of all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. They must be personable, professional, and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work events as scheduled per business need.

This role pays an hourly rate of $17 to $18, plus tips.

Responsibilities

  • Meet the company standard for excellent guest service, interaction with co-workers, and uniform standards.
  • Follow bar pre-shift notes and menus to provide proper service.
  • Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures and regulations.
  • Learn about various beer, wine varieties, and spirits, and suggestively upsell products.
  • Pour drinks responsibly according to standards.
  • Verify guest IDs to ensure legal age for alcohol purchase.
  • Communicate cut-off times to guests as required.
  • Respond to customer requests or concerns.
  • De-escalate intoxicated guest situations; contact management or security if needed.
  • Consult management if unable to resolve issues.
  • Request or restock products as needed.
  • Handle cash accurately; responsible for assigned bank.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work station; ensure equipment is clean and well-maintained.

Other duties include setting up and breaking down the bar and organizing the cooler.

Physical Dimensions

This position involves extensive standing and walking, reaching, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required. Vision requirements include the ability to adjust focus, peripheral, and close vision.
