Job summary

Proof of the Pudding, an award-winning catering company in the Southeast, is seeking Premium Bartenders for Duke University athletic events in Durham, NC. This is seasonal/part-time work with training provided and a competitive pay rate starting at $16 per hour plus tips.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year bartending experience, a High School diploma or equivalent, and TIPs certification. Knowledge of upscale/VIP service is required, and eligibility to work at home football games is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up/break down bar before and after events.
• Set bar up promptly and ice down products.
• Coordinate with bar back for replenishments during shifts.
• Greet guests and provide exceptional customer service.
• Attend to guests needs throughout the event.
• Clean bar after closing and discard excess ice.
• Record closing inventory and stock storage as directed.
• Follow federal, local, and venue alcohol policies.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Proof of the Pudding, operator of DUKE University hospitality and concessions, is looking for Premium Bartenders to provide strong customer service to all premium hospitality areas, at DUKE University’s athletic events. We are offering competitive pay and on-the-job training at one of the most scenic venues in North Carolina.

This is seasonal/part-time work as business needs are dictated by athletic events.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for both pre & post bar set-up/breakdown responsibilities.
• Sets bar up in a timely manner, including icing down product.
• Communicates well with bar back personnel during the event to assist them with replenishment during shift.
• Greets all guests and gives exceptional customer service.
• Attentive to guests needs throughout the entire event.
• Cleans bar after closing, discard excess ice.
• Record closing inventory
• Responsible for putting away all inventory as directed.
• Follows all federal, local, and venue alcohol policies.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred
• 1+ years of bartending experience
• Must be TIPs/TEAM certified (will accept Team certification or will provide training).
• Knowledge of upscale/VIP service styles required.

Work Environment

The work environment for this position will be event operations and working out of the Football Stadium or similar venues. This position will often move throughout campus and stadium grounds on different terrains.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of being in one place, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue.
• Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting up-to 30 pounds.
